While I was in New York, some dick head poured beer on my lap top and failed to tell me. I would make the bstrd pay for all the damage....but I don't know who done it!
Hopefully, I will be able to recover ALL my music but the point is: with out a lap top I can't update Fresh B33ts.
Due to lack of funds, it is going to be a while until I am able to get a new computer SO....

There latest single, L'Amour is a curveball to their regular style and it sounds like Daft Punk at their peak (never a bad thing). A+. The Bingo Players are big but need the attention that Swedish House or Deadmao-five get.

Dillon Francis continues to KILL it. This is 1 of 3 bombs off his new EP, "Some Something Awesome". I am noticing that he is picking up more of a Skrillex-esque style which is alright I guess...... I'm a huge fan of his moombahton stuff like his remix of "Broken Hearts" and "Que Que", which is slightly noticeable in the EP. Hopefully he goes back towards that direction in the future. Either way, love him as a producer and love the EP. Check it OUT.

Hot damn! Nicky Romero is at it again with another bomb! This is his first release off Tiesto's label, Musical Freedom. G-303 consists of a powerful 303 lead (duh) and a build up melody, that hurts to say, is slightly reminiscent of LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It". Nonetheless, this tune doo doo's on LMFAO for many reasons: 1. No annoying lyrics and 2. 1000x more beefier. I also like how Romero cleverly added the Schoolly D sample made famous by The Chemical Brother's "Block Rockin' Beat". This track is gonna make the floor TILT! N_Joy

What up b33theads! While you're groggily trying to figure out how Shamu ended up next to you this morning or for you more ambitious kitties, trying to start your New Years resolutions, lets slow down for a moment and reflect on an eventful, memorable year of 2011! I first thought about compiling my top 10 songs of 2011 but then it got real sticky as to who would rank over who and how all the different genres would effect the standings so instead I did it by month. 12 songs, 1 from every month that I felt really killed it and made a big mark the electronic music scene. If you disagree with my choices, please write me an angry letter then go to the post office and kill yourself. (HAH didnt see that one coming, did you??) Just kidding. Anyways, here we go:

1. Optinuum -Moguai

Harvest
The electronic dance scene absolutely exploded in mid 2010 and continued to uncontrollably spill out all over the US. At the start of 2011, with progressive house becoming more popular due to the likes of mainly Deadmao-five, Moguai released this masterpiece to kick off what would become an even crazier year. This song is fuego!

2. Zero 76 -Tiesto & Hardwell

Released in February, this song is crucial because it marked the transition of Tiesto, switching from Trance to House, never to look back again :( Alongside this momentous change, this was a giant break for rising producer, Hardwell. Once Hardwell got this exposure, it was all main stages and top of the charts for the young son of a gun. Everyone loves a pumping big room track- N_Joy.

3. Big Bass Drum -TAI:

While big-room house generally took over the scene, producers like TAI keep it fresh with wobbly electro tracks like this one! One of my all time favorite filth tracks!

3.5. Que Que -Diplo & Dillon Francis

Sorry but I couldn't just pick one song in the month of March. This is another song that blew me away and marked the rising of the hot, new genre: MOOMBAHTON! Diplo has always been an idol of mine. He is a producer that is unafraid to meld every style of music from rap, electro, and reggae, dance-hall. Alongside, this was another big break for young star, Dillon Francis, who we can all say is some what the "poster boy" of the moombahton genre. Dillon Francis fits well under the Mad Decent label, because like Diplo, his production style is unorthodox and unique. Big things continue to pour out from both producers and the Mad Decent label.

4. Cry (Just A Little) -Bingo Players

Bingo Players are EASILY in my top 5 Favorite Producers. What makes them special is their simplistic style and their ability to create tracks from dirty dutch and disco to main stage-festival tracks. This track brought them instant fame with its catchy, happy go lucky disco feel. From the time Cry took the top of the Beatport charts all the way up until now, they have continued to thrive with a multitude of top 10 hits like Rattle and Mode, as well as started their own label, Hysteria Records, and own radio show, Hysteria Radio. Unbelievable duo! Can't wait to see what they bring to the table in 2012!

5. Prutataaa -Afrojack & R3hab

As I continue to compile this list, I am starting to notice a trend: Current star does collaboration with protégé=both people gain all the spoils you can imagine......lucky bastards. Afrojack, the #1 DJ in the world, introduces fellow dutchman, R3hab and together they birth one filthy tune! Me likey!

5.5. Save The World -Swedish House Mafia

Yup, I had to do it. Paying homage to the greatest trio in the world. Swedish House Mafia kicked off the summer of dance music with this popular tune. For me, this song sticks out as to when House music became REALLLLY popular, like more plays on the radio, in the club, etc etc. Whether you like this song or not, SHM doesn't need your approval. What makes the trifecta so awesome to me is that they haven't gone off and done some bullshit, mainstream work to rake in more money and fame like David Guetta or even, Afrojack. Yes, I understand that D.G. and Afrojack are producers and a producer's job is to make music for anyone/everyone and yes, I still like their music but SHM doesn't deal with the petty mainstream crowd. They are solely about HOUSE and nothing BUT HOUSE. ReSpEkT, yo!

6. Lotus -Mumbai Science:

Still waiting for these guys to get the recognition they deserve. Techno and electro rolled into a giant rock, which is then melted down and injected directly into your eyeballs. I have never seen a crowd of 40 people turn so animalistic. These guys fucking rule and hopefully more people jump on the wagon in 2012.

7. Levels (Clockwork Remix) -Avicii

Oh yes I did! Two reasons this song is here:
1. Clockwork kills it with this edit. Its like getting punched in the nut sack by Pacquiao himself.
2. Avicii is a dope producer. Respect is due where respect is earned.

8. Bodywork -Bart B More & Tommie Sunshine

Age does not matter in the electronic music scene. Here is a fine example of young and old coming together and breaking necks. Bart B More is another young cat who is slowly climbing to the top. Mixing electro, wobbly bass music, and acid house, his music will make you laugh, cry, sneeze, fart. Check plus!

8.5. Calling -Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso

Ah, another example of current star paving the way for young star. It was also nice to see Sebastian Ingrosso come out with an original track because I feel like people were getting skeptical as to how much he contributes to SHM. I mean, seeing how Axwell and Angello constantly pump out their own original stuff and what not..... Hey, I am not talking down on Ingrosso at all. Matter of fact, I freaking love him and if I was a woman, I would definitely sleep with him. I just needed some reassurance to show other people that he is thee man!
I could listen to this song a 1000 times in a row and not get sick of it. Don't test me.....

9. Audio, Video, Disco -Justice

And for a moment the world stopped spinning. Justice finallllllllllyyyy released new material which was followed by a lot of criticism. Took me a while to accept the fact that the new stuff wasn't going to be like Cross. Nonetheless, I love Justice and the new material continues to grow on me daily. Seeing them in April, should be life changing.

9.5. Beta -Hardwell & Nicky Romero

This song is like if Mila Kunis and Amber Heard (the blonde smoke show from Pineapple Express) decided to release a s3x t4p3! Again, two rising stars swapping spit and ejaculating a tidal wave of unicorns and narwhals. Okay, that made no sense and I think I took it a little far. What I really mean is, here is a track that is the future. Both Nicky Romero and Hardwell have made leaps and bounds this year and continue to turn heads with every production they put out. Be on the look out for both of these bad boys come 2012.

10. Original Don -Major Lazer

It was wayyyy tooo long since Major Lazer put out anything new. This funky dance-hall influenced track has got everything you want in a party tune: heavy, fast-paced bass and grimy synths! Spark up your crack pipes and go krazy!

11. Let The Beat Control Your Body -Brodinski

My tune of 2011. Codes is seedy looking mothafucka, which makes sense, seeing as how his disco-esque beats are characteristic of a nasty old man leftover from the 70's. The youngster was recently signed to DJ Craze & Kill The Noise's super label, "Slow Roast Records," and the whole thing reminds me of Fools Gold Records since DJ Craze has won every DJ title like 69 different times (just like A-Trak) and the label has artists playing everything from dubstep to hip-hop.

Anyways, Codes has been getting some attention due in part to his exclusive mix for Avalon and the moombahtony remix he and Craze did for Duck Sauce's Big Bad Wolf. His 5-track EP, Codes House, has some bangin' tracks on it, and I'll be sharing the highlights with you below...

This, right here, is amazing!!!!! HARD and Mouth Taped Shut are throwing 5 RIDICULOUS shows for free! A few weeks back, they posted a different poster for the 5 lucky cities that would be granted this magical, musical event. Almost like a renegade rave, as the dates near to the various free parties, HARD opens up an RSVP list on their site, from which anyone in the area is guest listed (for free) to go. What also is nuts is that the talent they have pulled together are brick-shitting ridiculous: The Bloody Beetroots in NY, Sebastian Ingrosso in Chicago, alongside with "smaller" acts like James Murphy and Proxy!!!!
They have yet to release the SF, LA, and London line up, which are set to go off mid December.

A few weeks back The Bloody Beetroots released an eerie track, Church Of Noise (<-watch!), stating their return in a revolutionist-style! While many fans are not too happy with their new screamo-metal direction, their energy and unique production make it hard NOT to enjoy! Personally, I'll always be a Beetroots fan. With so much pop-house being put out, its about time for someone to spike the punch and mess up everyones' hair.

What up b33theadz! On most Monday mornings, it is quite the chore getting out of bed. I slowly peel myself from the warmth of my king size water bed, away from the scantily clad women and silk sheets (thread count 10000. it literally feels like wrapping yourself in the fur of a puppy) and drag my feet to the kitchen, where my personal chef, Pierre, whips me up some hot French press. Well, THIS Monday was a whole other story! Once word was out that Kaskade had officially released his SEVENTH complete album, I sprang out of bed, grabbed my garden hoe (it's always nice to have her company when I'm out digging up b33ts), and went straight to the fields for some early mornin' harvesting!

Fire & Ice is an accumulation of ALL of Kaskade's achievement has a DJ/Producer over the years. While he was heavily known for his softer, melodic progressive house (Move For Me, Angel On My Shoulder, any song from his dance.love album...), Kaskade has proven that he can handle the main stage. His new big room sound which can be heard from his singles like Turn It Down and Eyes, shows how much versatility and (i hate to use this word but it's hard to be creative this early in the morning) "swagger" he has acquired thus far. The first disk, Fire, features 10 of his original songs with awesome collaborations like Skylar Grey, Dada Life, Haley, and much much more. All of the tracks reflect his "soft side" of smooth melodies and lots of women vocals but still full of color. The second disk, Ice, is meant to cool you down after being scorched by disk 1. It's all of his downtempo edits for after hour activities. Very Nise!

I'm super late on this but the 2011 Top 100 DJ list from DJmag.com finally came out.....

You know this shit can't be accurate if DAVID GUETTA GOT THE #1 SPOT!?!!? The rankings don't add up or make sense..
IF it was purely by popularity, maybe its possible for Guetta to take #1 just because he could pull the mainstream crowd vote BUT I doubt that is the case because 9/10 people who are mainstream electronic listeners have no idea what that Top 100 List is....

If they did know what it was, there is no way Gareth Emery would be above Skrillex and Laidback Luke. Matter of fact, IF it was by popularity vote, the top 10 would probably be something like: Avicii, Deadmao-five, Skrillex, LMFAO, Swedish House, David Guetta, Afrojack, Wolfgang Gartner, etc etc (the "pretentious" listeners will get the joke ^_^)

ALL I WANT TO KNOW is how do they calculate who gets what spot? It obviously cannot be purely on popularity vote. Of course it might have to do with who produced what and who had a successful year but if those things are also taken into account, this list is even more crooked.

How is Boys Noize not in the top 25 AT LEAST?! Infected Mushroom is in the top 25?!?! When was the last time you heard an Infected Mushroom song?

Just today, I discovered the EDC 2012 trailer. EDC this year was awesome and I plan on attending next year BUT I got a bone to pick:

What the fuck is up with all these music festivals selling tickets nearly a year in advance before the actual event?!

If you watch the trailer on their website, at the verrrry end it says that tickets are going on sale November 1, 2011.

Coachella is now two weekends in a row and they started selling tickets in July....more bull shit..... and I'll bet other big music festivals are going to follow suit.

The reason this makes me angry is because its now purely about how much profit these companies can make. THERE ISNT EVEN A LINE UP! Yeah, most likely they'll get the best artists around yada yada yada but how are you going to put people in a position where they have to buy a ticket now or potentially not be able to go at all?

Some of you are going to tell me "No, they aren't going to sell ALL the tickets" No shit, dummy, I knew that. If you followed Coachella at all last year: They sold tickets 5 months early and when tickets went on sale again during their normal time, it sold out in less then week. Anyone who really wanted to go only had the option to pay scalpers at least double the price. Sounds like a bunch of bull shit to me.

But hey, I am only one guy expressing my personal opinion and what can I do? Hell, I'll probably even end up buying a pre-sale ticket to avoid getting raped by price-spikes, come ACTUAL normal ticket sale-time. Fuck, this is retarded. Me angry.

The world anxiously holds its breathe in anticipation for the rebirth of Justice! With two singles under their belt (Civilization and Audio, Video, Disco) and the recent release of their third, Helix, it is clear that the two frenchmen, known for their hard electro sound, have chosen a new direction for their second album.

As cliche or as "typical" as this may sound, Justice (Waters of Nazareth) is where it all began for me. After getting a taste of their gritty sound, I was truly hooked; especially after only really hearing electronic music of the likes of Eric Prydz, Darude, and Daft Punk. It was life changing. Fast forward to now, there has been a lot of debate over their latest work. Me personally? Granted, it took a little getting used to....I can dig it! Being a classic rock fiend before my electronic days, I love how Justice have "simplified" their sound and stick to basics (mainly guitar, bass, keyboard, and percussion) but are still able to make funky music. I will say, I don't know how this music will sound in a live environment. It is definitely not as "dance-y" and more on the performance end of things...like going to a rock concert vs a rave. But hey! Great artists have to switch it up here and there and maybe their 3rd album will come back to the Cross sound. Until then, I'm going to welcome this change with open arms and see where it goes from there.

One thing I find interesting about electronic music is that there is really no such thing as a "one hit wonder". TRY to think of an artist whom you only like ONE of his or her songs (it doesn't count if you only know one song). You can stop trying because you won't be able to. And even if you try to prove me wrong, I'll prove YOU wrong by throwing a bunch of songs at you that you'll end up liking. I'm rambling here but I was thinking about it the other day and its crazy how much electronic music has changed the world; how its made (anyone can do it their living room), who listens to it, why people listen to it (drugz maybe? maybe u lyk hard dans b33ts?), the effect on OTHER genres of music, and so much more.

Before I type you to death, what I want to leave you with is that while many people feel like this is a "phase" of our generation/culture (and hey, it might be...but only until all the ecstasy runs out. jk ^_^), the lasting impression its had on music as a whole is never going to go away...so for all you h8trz out there, might as well just get with the times. For those who love the music, keeping being awesome!

Finally found sometime to listen to Wolfgang Gartner's latest album, Weekend In America. Genre wise, it stays simple. Every track is Gartner's very own signature, hard cutting, electro house. That being said, music-wise, the album is FAR from boring. Taking a quick glance of the track list, most of you will recognize a few of the songs released as singles throughout last year: like Space Junk, Illmerica, and Forever. In addition to those #1 hits, he has released 8 more additional tracks that are looking to follow suit in popularity. Also from glancing at the track list you can see he has done some mainstream work with Eve, Jim Jones, Omarion, and william. Interesting move but hey, everyone has got to make a dollar here and there. Overall, I give the album a solid 8.69/10

It was at the Bay Area stop where I was able to get my first taste of the Pretty Lights experience. To cut things short: the Colorado native dropped BOMBS on the crowd. Moar David Guetta?!!?

What is going on?! I know what you're thinking, "WHY ARE YOU POSTING SO MUCH GUETTA?!" Here is why, the tracks he has released so far that are set to be on the second disk, are fucking dope! I won't deny good music when I hear it! The first new release is Guetta like we've never seen or heard before. Glasgow is a heavily juiced, acid track that punches real hard! Again, I am hearing a lot of melodic-influence from his French brethren, Daft Punk (namely around 2:50). In the second track, Paris, he switches up styles and drops energetic dutch cuts over stabbing percussion, to create an enormous club hit! I think the Frenchy is getting tired of being known as being THEE sell out and wants a little redemption. So far, I am intrigued and am willing to give CD 2 (on the album) a chance :)
